Holiday Barbie 2011 - Barbie Collector 2011 Holiday Doll

2011 Holiday Barbie doll delivers best wishes for a beautiful holiday aglow with the most opulent treasures: love and joy, family and friends, peace and prosperity. Her beautiful asymmetrical Holiday Barbie 2011 gown features rich green satin with an ornate pattern of embroidered golden thread accented with sparkling "jewel" beads. The shimmery golden lame underskirt complements the festive glamorous look. Also includes dangling golden chandelier earrings and golden pumps.

The Holiday Barbie 2011 comes in a rare slim gold underskirt - rather than the usual large hemmed ball gown - with flowing green velvet-like overskirt. The overskirt is decorated with gold embroidery and jewel details. Her hazel eyes with their sparkly gold eyeshadow make a nice match with the golden chandelier earrings. The 2011 Holiday Barbie doll wears matching gold open toed shoes under the skirt. This is definitely one of the most sophisticated looking of all the Holiday Barbies.

Beautiful Addition to Holiday Series, September 26, 2011
Holiday Barbie 2011 Review by Marijr
I get these dolls for my seven-year old niece to play with, not for display. I've been getting them every year so she'd have something to play with at my house. This is one of the best yet. Normally I hold on to them until Christmas, but when she saw a picture of this year's doll, she begged me to let her have it early. The hair, makeup, dress...are beautiful & there's a retro feel to the overall look. The attention to detail is impecable. A must-have, whether you're a collector or looking for a Barbie for a child... read more review

Holiday Barbie 2011 Details

Barbie won’t disappoint those who have been anxiously awaiting her arrival for the upcoming holiday season! Since 1988, Mattel has been making their ever-popular Holiday Barbie dolls. This year’s Holiday Barbie 2011 is another stunning addition to this annual tradition, which is highly anticipated by collectors as well as little girls around the world.

The 2011 Holiday Barbie has all the Hallmarks of the series: a lovely Barbie in special collector packaging and fantastic gown. An elegant take on the holidays, the 2011 Holiday Barbie doll is gorgeous in green and gold! Her strapless gown from designer Robert Best features a chic sash over one shoulder while golden embroidery adds an opulent touch. With festive red nails and dangling golden earrings, she offers happy holiday wishes and sends season's greeting to loved ones near and far.

As with all of the recent Collector Holiday Barbies, she really isn't intended to be deboxed or played with. The doll doesn't come with a stand and her hair is heavily gelled to keep the curls in place (not really suitable for brushing or you destroy the style). As well, the back of the dress lacks the details of the front and doesn't have any of the volume when removed (previous year Holiday Barbies had cardboard inserts under the dresses to keep them 'fluffed out' and full in the hemline). Her dress is sewn into the box to keep a perfect display - it isn't quite as lovely when removed and without the restraints to keep it in place. She also has the model muse body - which means she isn't pivotal and can't hold any other pose. There were two very slight, barely visible pulls in the gold part of the dress on my doll.

Since the box is heavily decorated with the "arriving at the Christmas Ball" theme to match the dress, I'd recommend this for those who enjoy the entire display without wanting to debox. If you are giving this as a present for a younger child to display out of the box, you'll need to get a Barbie-sized doll stand separately.

Her beautiful emerald green gown features elegant golden embroidery
This glamorous Barbie is ready to attend the winter ball in her floor-length emerald gown with slim golden lame underskirt, intricate gold embroidery, and sparkling jewel accents.

Magnificent gold chandelier earrings complete the look
Completing the look are gold open-toed heels, glamorous gold chandelier earrings, and sparkly gold eye shadow. Barbie's festive ensemble features dazzling detail--elegantly styled long golden curls, flawless makeup, and an impeccable manicure.

A must have favorite Barbie Collector Doll year after year
Barbie Collector 2011 Holiday Doll is an ideal holiday doll for Barbie lovers and collectors. Barbie's packaging makes her an ideal collectable. With the elegant ballroom backdrop and Barbie's photo-worthy pose, the entire package of this Holiday Barbie 2011 attracts the eye and imagination. The removable cardboard prop beneath her skirt keeps her dress round and voluminous.

Out of the box, our testers found that this Holiday Barbie 2011 may be challenging as a toy for young children. The position of her arms, which are not straight as most Barbies' arms, may make her hard to maneuver. In addition, her hair is heavily gelled to keep her curls in place and is not really suitable for brushing or playing with.

Our testers also noted that this Holiday Barbie 2011 does not include a display stand, so collectors will want to keep her in the box to preserve her look. If you are giving this as a present for a younger child to display out of the box, we suggest purchasing a separate Barbie doll-sized stand.

1991 Happy Holiday Barbie Doll

Happy Holiday Barbie Dolls were made since 1988 and The 1988 Happy Holiday Barbie is considered to be the first "Collectible Barbie", although it wasn't originally planned that way. 1991 Happy Holiday Barbie was the 4th in the series and was looking quite festive in her green velvet gown!

The dolls rapidly sold out and almost immediately began to command big prices on the secondary market. Based on the popularity of that doll, Mattel realized there was a huge market for Barbie Dolls for adult collectors. This was the beginning of the "Barbie craze" that continued to grow, reached an absolute fevered pitch in the late 1990s

The long sleeve dress of the 1991 Happy Holiday Barbie Doll has a full skirt and puffed long sleeves. The bodice and sleeves are adorned with red white and green sequin and beads. She has a large matching bow in her long, big, blonde hair.

There was also an African American version.

The 1991 Holiday Barbie ornament was done as a 1999 Hallmark Collector's Club exclusive. This series was one of the most (if not the most) popular of all times. Many began their Barbie collection because of this series and many collected only this line. Many girls received a "Happy Holiday Barbie" each year for Christmas.

1990 Happy Holiday Barbie Doll

The 1990 Happy Holiday Barbie was the 3rd in the Happy Holiday Series and therefore was the third Holiday Barbie.

She is wearing a Fuchsia gown has a dropped waist with a huge layered skirt that has glittery silvery accents. Her huge poufed sleeves match the skirt. She has a hair ornament that matched the larger ornament in her box. This 1990 Happy Holiday Barbie doll was also available in an African American version - which I think is the first African American Holiday Barbie Doll.

These dolls seem to have minimal value on today's secondary market - there seem to be plenty of them available and they are selling a low prices - perhaps even lower than the original price, although I'm not sure what they sold for in 1990. Now seems to be a really good time if you've been wanting to pick one up!

Hallmark made the matching ornament to this doll as a 1998 Collector's Club Limited Edition.
